Erwin Müller: Installation Start for Automated Logistics Systems

Erwin Müller Versandhaus GmbH, a mail-order company specializing in home and household textiles, has commissioned Fortna to upgrade its shipping operations at the site in Buttenwiesen.

In September 2022, the steel construction for the shuttle warehouse in the new building, erected last year, marked the start of the installation work for the automated logistics systems. Further construction stages will follow, and commissioning is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022. The new building, which is now connected to the existing facility, provides Erwin Müller with 11,000 m² of additional floor space.

Erwin Müller Versandhaus GmbH has enjoyed continuous growth since it was founded in 1951 as a textile wholesaler. As early as 1997, the family business was on the right track when it opened an online shop. In order to satisfy the rapidly growing demands of online retailing, this specialist for home and household textiles decided to expand its logistics operations by constructing a new building with a centrally located incoming goods area, shuttle and shipping system.

Development of a complete design concept for Rebuy's Intralogistics

Fortna provides leading European recommerce company, rebuy, with an end-to-end intralogistics design concept at its Berlin-Rudow site.

To date, the company has made use of 7,500 m² for storing and processing used books, DVDs, Blu-rays and CDs. Sale of these items are highly successful via the online platform rebuy.deContinuing growth necessitated an expansion of capacities and this was achieved by renting a property next to the existing building. The highlight of the design is the integration of 36 tray lifts for picking A, B and C items in the new hall, which can be extended to 72 tray lifts if required.

Now that the new logistics area has been added, rebuy has a grand total of around 15,000m² at its disposal for optimized storage and processing.

For the first time since the start of the Corona pandemic the German E-Commerce and Mail Order Association (bevh) will be hosting the "Arbeitskreis Logistik".

With presentations and discussions focussing RETROFIT the kick-off event will take place on October 13-14, 2022, starting at Fortna | Pierau’s logistics showroom in Bad Waldsee. The highlight will be a tour of the logistics operations at the headquarters of Versandhaus Walz GmbHon October 13, 2022.
